Founding PRIMO Malta
PRIMO Europe was created on the 6th December 2007, by UDITE – the Pan-European Union of Local Authority Chief Executives of Europe with the aim of making risk management an essential part of good management in the public sector. Since its inception in 2005, PRIMO Europe has developed rapidly with chapters in Denmark, France, Nederland, Flanders and now also in Malta – a network which offers its members a comprehensive web library, guidance and counseling, as well as an introductory online course in risk management.
Focus
PRIMO Europe was primarily created to share knowledge, experiences and best practice between CEO’s, public leaders, managers, senior advisors and policy makers within the public domain in general and within local and regional communities in particular. Faced with the current financial and economic crisis, the need for public risk management as a tool for decision makers is now more than ever indispensable and we believe that a new way of approaching and managing public risks is dawning.
We aim to make our association the catalyst for change. Through our network which encompasses over 15,000 members across 16 EU countries, PRIMO Europe, in association with UDITE, links with Local Government National Associations to promote constructive relations between Chief Executives, senior managers and decision makers. PRIMO’s purpose is to disseminate knowledge of modern risk management practices to European public sector managers. Together with our partners and members we have developed an extensive e-library with relevant information, new, data and publications. We have introduced an award to give impulse to innovation in the field of risk management and are in the process of launching a Europe-wide survey.
PRIMO is also collaborating with leading international academic institutions in order to enable members to take advantage of a variety of integrated courses and degrees, ranging from an online introductory course in risk management to Master’s and PhD degrees.
PRIMO Malta will seek to develop exchanges of information and expertise to establish risk management as a natural and integral part of good public governance and extend the knowledge and use of risk management tools to the role and functions of local authorities through its European network which will support both the day-to-day and long term work of public sector managers. We invite you to join our network and benefit from its many resources.
